Two thousand and ten is up and
going and we are under way with a new tournament season.
Amistad proved to be tough for some and easy for others.
Things were a little disoriented at the first weigh in
with new clubs and members but seam to be under control
by the second day. I thought the Angler's Bassclub did a
fantastic job of conducting the launch, live well
checks, and weigh in. I hope the other clubs will take
notice. I have a couple of things to tell you about.
The first is the new fantasy
fishing group for the west region. It is just for fun
and something else to give each other grief over. It
will start with the Bassmaster Classic and continue
through the Elites. You can join in anytime you want. To
participate, here is what you have to do. First go to
Bassmaster.coms homepage. At the top of the page, just
right of the ESPN logo, is the word Fantasy. Click on
that and it will take you to the fantasy fishing page.
There are 4 tabs there, Frontpage, My Entry,
Leaderboard, and My Groups. First click on My Entry and
enter your info and pick your Pros. After you have that
completed, you can join the West Region Group by
clicking on My Groups and clicking join a group. The
Group is listed as TexWestRegion and you will have to
then enter a password to access the group. The password
is for West Region Members only and will be emailed to
you on request. Email
dwzak@suddenlink.net and I will send you the
Password. We will try to email every member the password
but we are not sure we have everyone's correct email
address. Have fun with it and let us know if you need
help getting in.
The next item of business is the
State Raffle tickets handed out at the December Meeting.
We need all monies and tickets turned in at the monthly
tournament at Belton. If you are not going to Belton,
please contact us so that we can make other arrangements
with you. We have to have this turned in ASAP.
If your club is interested, we are
setting up individual pages for each club on our
website. The Angelo Federation is already active. It
helps get information to your local members and can
promote local sponsors. The info however is only as good
as what David receives from the clubs.
Finally, I would like you to take
notice of the memorial tournament for Tony Gibson, March
6, on Ivie. Tony was a member of the West Region for
three years. He loved competing with all the guys and
liked poking fun at his fellow angler. Tony lost his
battle with cancer and one of his final wishes were that
we hold a tournament in his honor that would benefit
Hospice and cancer research. He kept hoping he could get
back on the water with all of us. I hope that you will
try and fish this tournament and get back on the water
with Tony. We will miss him.
If there is something you would
like to change or see on our website, please let us
know. We are trying to make it as informative as we can.
You will continue to see some changes. Thanks for your
imput and see you in Belton.
